Bright Data returns a 200 status. Their dashboard marks it as successful. But the HTML contains Akamai’s challenge page, not the product page. No price. No availability. No product details. Just an empty shell that your parser chokes on.

The reason is straightforward: Bright Data routes your request through a residential proxy and adds some headers. That’s it. The Akamai sensor script either doesn’t execute at all, or executes in an environment that Akamai immediately flags as non-human.

ScraperAPI handles it even worse. Their JavaScript rendering is basic — they spin up a headless browser, load the page, and return whatever HTML they get. Akamai’s sensor script detects the headless environment in milliseconds and serves a block page.

  2. Rendering fingerprinting — Canvas rendering output, WebGL renderer info, font enumeration results
  3. Timing analysis — How long did the page take to load? What’s the JavaScript execution timing? Are the numbers consistent with a real browser?
  4. Sensor data encoding — All collected data is encoded into the _abck cookie value, which must be valid on subsequent requests

If the sensor data is wrong, invalid, or missing, Akamai blocks you. No amount of IP rotation fixes this. You could route through a million residential IPs — every single request will fail if the sensor data doesn’t pass validation.

Bright Data doesn’t generate valid sensor data. ScraperAPI doesn’t. Oxylabs sometimes does, inconsistently. None of them have solved this problem reliably.
